Position Details:

Position: Per Diem Spiritual Counselor (Chaplain)

Job Type: Per Diem (with potential for Full-time as coverage grows)

Location: In-person patient visits across our full coverage area for areas that you cover Coverage Area Needed: Los Angeles (LA), The Valley, Inland Empire (IE), and Riverside County

The Spiritual Counselor’s (Chaplain’s) Role:

Hospice patients often rely heavily on spiritual support as a coping strategy. As a Spiritual Counselor/Chaplain, you will be the cornerstone of this support, providing comfort and emotional strength. Key Responsibilities Include:

• Serve as an expert active listener, providing comfort, compassion, and grief counseling to patients and caregivers.
• Conduct thorough spiritual assessments for all assigned patients.
• Offer and provide prayer services, religious rituals, and shepherd/counseling as needed, according to your scope of practice.
• Collaborate effectively with the Medical Director (Physician) and the entire interdisciplinary team.
• Conduct memorial services or funerals when requested.
• Promote effective spiritual management and complete mandated documentation accurately and promptly.
• Notify the Director of Patient Services (DPCS) regarding any Change in Spiritual Condition (CoC).
• Maintain strict patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

Compensation and Mileage:

Visit Type: Initial Assessment Pay Rate: $100.00 per visit

Visit Type: Recertification Visit Pay Rate: $100.00 per visit

Visit Type: Routine Visit Pay Rate: $80.00 per visit

Mileage Reimbursement:

• Mileage reimbursement will be provided for any distance exceeding 20 miles from your home location to the first patient of the day, and 20 miles from the last patient back home.
• Travel between patients that exceeds 20 miles will also be reimbursed for the miles over the 20-mile threshold.

Chaplain Qualifications (Required)

To ensure the highest quality of care, candidates must meet the following professional qualifications:

Requirements

Experience: 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting AND 1 year of experience in Hospice care.

Education: Master of Divinity or a Bachelor of Divinity degree OR an MSW Degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Certification (One Required): Certification as a Board Certified Chaplain or an Advanced Practice Board-Certified Chaplain.

Schedule

• Standard Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Visits should be made during these core office hours).
• Flexibility: Visits can be scheduled per patient wishes on weekends, holidays, or after hours if the Spiritual Counselor is available.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
