The psychologist clinician investigator devotes a majority of the time to research responsibilities in addition to providing clinical services. These research responsibilities can include grant funded research as well as research development or program-related research that may or may not be grant fund. The primary job function includes the provision of direct psychological patient care and oversight of the Mental Illness, Research, Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC) research portfolio.

Duties include but not limited to:
Research and Quality Assurance:
1. Conduct research relevant to the mission of the MIRECC which has a focus on measurement based care and precision mental health care.
2. Provides consultation to investigators on all regulatory oversite of the research portfolio and in particular clinical trials.
3.Develops research projects consistent with the MIRECC mission.
4. Participates as a therapist in clinical trials.
5. Participates in the interpretation of research date and participates in the development of manuscripts and other dissemination activities.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Provides a full range of psychodiagnostic services including assessment and uses the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care
2. Performs evaluations for patients with a variety of psychological and neuropsychological disorders.
3. Provides education to patients, family members and significant others
4. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including: individual, group, couple and family psychotherapy.
5. Provides consultation to professional staff within CMC VAMC system and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans.
6. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders.
7. Demonstrates sensitivity/openness to significance of diversity and cultural issues
8. Functions independently as a member of the CMC VAMC Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. Assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.
