We are seeking a full time Behavioral Health Counselor 2 (Behavior Specialist) for our Jail-Based Competency Restoration Program which will be based onsite at Dodge County, Georgia. The Behavior Health Counselor 2 (Behavior Specialist) will work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health as well as teaching materials related to competency to stand trial. They may also assist individuals with addiction and substance abuse and other issues associated aging and mental/emotional health. This position also be a part of a Recovery Planning Team (RPT).

Shift: 8am- 5pm
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, counsel with emphasis on prevention and/or behavior modification. Works with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. May help individuals deal with addictions and substance abuse, family, parenting, and marital problems, suicide, stress management, problems with self-esteem, and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health.
Job Description:
  • Act as client advocate in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations. Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, and tests.
  • Counsel clients in individual and group sessions to help them overcome dependencies, recover from illness, and adjust to life. Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
  • Evaluate clients' physical or mental condition based on review of client information. Maintain confidentiality of records relating to client's treatment. Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress according to measurable goals described in treatment and care plan.
  • Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports

Preferred:

Masters Degree in Behavioral Health Field, Two years of experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities or Mental Health issues. Experience writing progress notes related to recovery plan objectives, facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic groups and have an interest in teaching skills that will facilitate successful transition from a secure mental health facility back to local community. Experience working in an in-patient psychiatric and or forensic setting.

**High School and College Degrees Must Be From an Accredited Institution**

Bachelor's degree in in counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Behavioral Hlth Counselor 1 (HCP100) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require certification or licensure.
