School Counselor in Independence, MO

Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 counseling opportunity is available for a dedicated professional to support students across all grade levels in Independence, MO. This contract role spans the current school year and offers the chance to foster student growth, provide guidance, and collaborate with educators to create a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling services to students K-12, addressing social, emotional, and academic concerns
• Develop and implement intervention strategies to promote student well-being and success
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student needs
• Conduct assessments and maintain accurate documentation of counseling activities
• Facilitate crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed
• Participate in school-wide initiatives promoting mental health and positive behavior

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• Licensed or certified counselor with experience working in K-12 educational settings
• Strong understanding of child and adolescent development
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
• Proficient in developing individualized plans that meet student needs
• Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical practices in school counseling
