Position Characteristics

Remote school psychologist roles generally require 35-37.5 hours per week delivering virtual psychological services. You'll work with students across elementary, middle, and high school grades, conducting assessments and providing consultation services through teletherapy technology. Your expertise will guide educational decision-making and support positive student outcomes in online learning environments.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations using standardized assessment instruments adapted for virtual administration. Evaluations typically include cognitive ability testing, academic achievement measures, behavioral rating scales, and social-emotional assessments. Synthesize multiple data sources including records review, teacher input, parent interviews, and student observations to develop accurate diagnostic impressions. Write thorough evaluation reports that provide clear explanations of student strengths and needs along with specific, actionable recommendations for educational programming. Attend and actively participate in IEP team meetings, eligibility determination conferences, and manifestation determination reviews conducted via video conferencing platforms. Provide consultation services to teachers implementing behavioral intervention plans and academic accommodations. Support crisis response protocols and participate in threat assessment procedures when needed. Maintain compliance with special education timelines, documentation requirements, and ethical standards established by NASP.

Mandatory Qualifications

Candidates must possess valid New Mexico School Psychologist licensure and a Master's degree in School Psychology or related field. Two years of experience working in school settings with students requiring special education evaluation or services is required. Demonstrated competence in assessment, interpretation, and report writing is essential. Knowledge of special education law, including IDEA regulations and evaluation procedures, ensures appropriate practice. Technology proficiency supports virtual service delivery including familiarity with telepractice platforms and digital collaboration tools.
