Description
The therapist will be responsible for providing clinical services to a wide range of individuals and families. Ensuring each client within the assigned caseload is sufficiently supported by the Skyland Trail program services from the client's entry into the program until discharge.

The therapist will be responsible for providing clinical services to a wide range of individuals and families. Ensuring each client within the assigned caseload is sufficiently supported by the Skyland Trail program services from the client's entry into the program until discharge.
- Divides time, 50% of time working in Primary Counselor capacity (with a 5 to 7 client caseload) and 50% of time facilitating groups during Day Services programming
- Work with individual client caseload. Conduct individual therapy sessions, frequency is determined by the level of care of the patient, i.e. aleast twice per week for Residential, at least once per week for PHP; while completing documentation within Skyland Trail’s guidelines.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for caseload and revise per documentation guidelines and as necessary. Conduct meetings with parents/guardians every two weeks to review progress, discuss treatment goals, and plan discharge. Review clients’ treatment plans, documenting progression towards treatment plan goals and all changes in status.
- Conduct clinical groups for adolescents based on the following principles: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT Skills (i.e. distress tolerance), Ecological Systems Theory (EST), psycho-educational groups and problem solving groups.
- Create/implement additional wellness plans as necessary based on client needs.
- Assist clients when crisis situations arise through the use of verbal de- escalation as well as crisis assessments and evaluation for potential involuntary hospitalization.
- Participate in on-call rotation, covering on-call responsibilities.
- Participate in meetings (between staff, clients and/or families) when additional leadership or situation de-escalation is needed within the meeting.
- Participate in weekly interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings including presenting and discussing clinical cases assigned speaking to goals, treatment plans, expectations and needs of the client.
- Responsible for completion of assessments that will include entering data and tracking outcomes on a weekly basis in order to ensure continuous quality improvements and evaluate treatment re
- Plan discharge meetings with families and patients outside of group sessions and be responsible for documentation associated with discharge including discharge summaries and associated paperwork. Participate in continuing professional development by attending weekly supervision with Director of Clinical Services for administrative supervision, case consultation and trainings.
- A ttend supervision with Chief Medical Officer to review client cases and clinical concerns.
- Comply with facility policies and accreditation standards (i.e., Joint Commission, CCI, ORS, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to assess treatment goals; write goal directed and individualized treatment plans
- Ability to monitor and document individual behavior patterns and modify treatment plans to meet changing treatment goals
- Understand theories of development and recognize the role of developmental processes in adolescent mental illness and treatment
- Recognize the importance of family and support systems in the treatment process
- Understand mandated reporter requirements.
- Crisis Management Skills
- Knowledge of CPR and First Aid Procedure and involvement in provided training at Skyland Trail
- Utilizes and adheres to HIPAA standards and Skyland Trail Confidentiality Policy
- Ability to screen for risk to self or others
- Understand and utilize evidence-based models and theories of behavioral health to conceptualize cases and help clients develop coping skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage difficult client discussions
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Fully licensed in Georgia with a Master’s Degree in mental health/social work/counseling field
- At least 2 years of experience in partial hospitalization/day treatment/inpatient/residential setting for adolescents with chronic mental illness
- Prior experience in facilitating group therapy
- Good working knowledge of and demonstrated experience of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) -certification preferred
