JOB LOCATION : Professional Building

DEPARTMENT: SPN - NEUROLOGY


SCHEDULE:
Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, 0800-1700 M-Th 0800-1200 Fri

POSITION SUMMARY

Works with Neurologists, Radiologists, and other various physicians to coordinate the care for dementia patients within our system. Case Management - Facilitate patient continuity of care between hospital department and dementia program. Communicates results of radiology and pathology procedures performed. Provides education to patients. Coordinates care for all patients with abnormal results for additional imaging, to include the ordering and scheduling of additional testing/imaging. Manage and facilitate the CMS Registry for Infusions for Dementia. Performs insurance verification and patient accounts registration for those patients. Prepare monthly statistical reports. Manage all incoming and outgoing referrals for dementia patients, to include the follow-up to make sure they are scheduled and obtaining results. Obtain authorization for all dementia patients for clinic visits, imaging studies and anything else related to their treatment. Most importantly, provide support and comfort for newly diagnosed dementia patients and their families.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school graduate preferred.
  • BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Two years secretarial and/or business office training.
  • Accurate computer keyboard and typing skills, minimum 45 wpm.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to organize work load.
  • Experience with patient registration/admitting, diagnosis coding, completion of medical terminology course, IBM PC experience, Patient Account Representative certification (CPAR), EKG experience, knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology preferred.
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of individuals.

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

Modern, well-lighted, air conditioned, general work area. Moderate noise level. Occasional overtime required. Ability to sit, stand or walk for moderate periods. Safe and efficient operation of office equipment including: copier, fax, printers, computer, telephone, adding machine, Medifax, credit card machine, typewriter, paper shredder, EKG, weight scale. Reading of printed materials, including physician orders. Listening and verbally responding to customers, staff, physicians, visitors, vendors, etc. Moderately heavy lifting {0-25 lbs.}, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting.
