In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals and families navigating mental health challenges, helping them to develop coping strategies, improve their daily living skills, and build supportive networks. You will be a key part of our mission to empower our clients and foster resilience.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual Peer Support Specialist services in the community.
- Assist clients in developing treatment goals within the first 30 days of service.
- Help clients restore, rehabilitate, and develop social and interpersonal skills.
- Identify and enhance support networks, promote community awareness, and develop coping strategies.
- Support the development of daily living skills.
- Assist clients in managing the negative effects of psychiatric or emotional symptoms.
- Help clients identify and respond to triggers that lead to functional impairments.
- Implement Peer Support Plan on an ongoing basis.
- Participate in collaborative meetings with Behavioral Health Services staff and other community supports as needed.
- Communicate client status regularly, including changes in mood or functioning, medical issues, and crisis situations.
- Produce effective, clinical documentation of every contact with clients.
- Attend all office trainings and regular clinical supervision sessions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Self-identify as a current or former consumer of mental health services or as a first-degree family member.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 6 months in self-directed recovery within the last year.
- Ability to use computer interface for documentation and billing purposes, or willingness to learn.
