Turning Point is recruiting for an Assessment Counselor part-time for our admissions department for various shifts and days. With appropriate supervision, admissions counselors are responsible for screening, assessing and completing documentation for client admissions. Responsible for obtaining client information, determining eligibility, maintaining database, screening callers, and providing information to referrals/family members/clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Completes substance use assessments and diagnose substance use disorders
  • After completion of the substance use assessment, recommends placement into substance abuse treatment based upon level of care
  • Informs referral source (with required release of information) of outcome of the assessment and treatment recommendations. Meet with referral agents when appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains a confidential, accurate, organized and updated electronic record for each assigned client under appropriate supervision.
  • Complies with documentation requirements as outlined in training manual (e.g. NJSAMS – Addiction Severity Index (ASI), DSM-5, Level of Care Index (LOCI), Admission Module, Clinical Authorization)
  • Briefly orient the client to the facility/programs
  • Maintains familiarity with current and available community resources
  • Maintain time management and organize work demands appropriately
  • Assists team with tasks when needed or when requested by supervisor
  • Attends staff meetings and required training sessions
  • Answer calls and respond to emails
  • Handle customer inquiries both telephonically, by email, and through use of CRM
  • Research required information using available resources
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints
  • Provide customers with service information
  • Enter and update new/existing customer information into the system
  • Identify and escalate priority issues
  • Follow up calls where necessary
  • Document all call information according to standard operating procedures
  • Complete call logs
  • Produce call reports

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

CADC, Masters level candidates seeking licensure such as LAC or working towards LCADC. Must have fluency with computers, MS Office, EHR systems and be computer literate. Must be willing to adhere to the Counselor’s Code of Ethics and demonstrate a positive attitude regarding the disease concept of addiction. Must have the ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts and a diverse client population.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
