AthenaPsych is a New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH)-licensed provider of community mental health services for children, adults, and families with behavioral and emotional challenges. We provide trauma-informed individual, group, family, and relationship therapies as well as psychiatry and peer specialist services. We are dedicated to improving the quality and accessibility of mental health care for all, especially individuals from underserved communities.

Here at Athena, we pride ourselves on hiring a diverse group of mental health clinicians and staff who are passionate and dedicated to improving our clients’ overall emotional well-being.

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Child Therapy Program Supervisor to oversee and enhance our child-focused clinical services. This role is ideal for a licensed psychologist who excels in both direct clinical work and program administration. In addition to providing assessment services, the Child Therapy Program Supervisor will play a key role in supervising school-based therapists, developing child service programs, and ensuring best practices in clinical workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to children and adolescents to assess for Autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, as well as to evaluate presenting behavioral, mood, anxiety, and other externalizing disorders.
  • Supervise and oversee School-Based therapists to ensure efficient workflows and quality service delivery.
  • Provide supervisory oversight over our child specialty track and aid in its development.
  • Offer consultation support for child and adolescent treatment within Athena’s clinics.
  • Collaborate with clinic leadership to develop and expand programming for children's services.
  • Maintain administrative oversight of child services programs, including reporting, compliance, and staff training.
  • Maintain a limited caseload of clients to ensure high-quality, individualized therapy services.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Completion of APA-approved clinical pre-doctoral internship.
  • Strong preference for candidates who have a current, unrestricted license as a psychologist in New York State, but will consider well-qualified candidates with a limited practice permit.
  • Experience and proficiency in administering and interpreting a wide range of psychological testing instruments, particularly those commonly with diagnosing psychological and developmental concerns in children and adolescents.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of direct clinical work with children and adolescents (including pre-doctoral internship and fellowship).
  • Bilingual Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with parents and families.
  • Prior experience in an administrative or supervisory role (e.g., Clinical Supervisor, Assistant Director of a Clinical Program) preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to develop structured programming.
Compensation is based on credentials and experience.
Working Conditions: This positions location varies. This is a professional work environment where a computer, desk, chair, and office supplies will be provided on-site at each of our offices.

Physical Requirements: Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the role above. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and speak on the phone or computer throughout the day, stand and sit for an extended period of time, and be able to write and answer emails in addition to carrying objects no greater than 25 pounds, when needed.
