CONTRACT ART THERAPIST - (Lower East Side)

The Art Therapy Project is a nonprofit providing group art therapy in a safe inclusive space for people in need of mental health services. Clients feel connected and inspired while exploring their personal journeys, increasing their self-awareness, and improving their quality of life.

We are looking for a Contract Art Therapist to run a one-hour group in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. This group is in support of court involved youth in conjunction with an after school program providing safe spaces for adolescents and young adults in Manhattan. The Contract Art Therapist will represent The Art Therapy Project and run the groups at our program partner’s site. Previous experience with this population is a plus. The groups are scheduled to occur once a week from 4:00-5:00pm on Tuesdays. The contract runs congruent with the school year, with the summers off. Future contract work may also become available for the right candidate.

In addition to running the group the Contract Art Therapist is responsible for:

• Group preparation
• Evaluating client needs and setting appropriate group goals
• Management of on-site space, supplies and storage
• Completion of paperwork including progress notes, attendance and assessments
• Communicating with Clinical Director about group progress and engaging in supervision
• Communicating with partner site about acute needs
• Maintaining certification, licensure and personal liability insurance
• Other duties as assigned

The Contract Art Therapist may have opportunities for leading additional ongoing groups and assisting with events as needed.

Qualifications & Skills Required: MPS/MA Art Therapy; ATR-BC, LCAT required.
Minimum two years post-graduate experience providing clinical Art Therapy services to consumers. Proof of certification, licensure and personal liability insurance required.

This work is Part Time on a contract basis, Compensation: $50-100/ hour.
