As an Employment Counselor, you will provide employment services to assist individuals searching for career opportunities or may be looking for support in their current roles. You will report to the Supervisor of Prevocational and Senior Services and you will work on-site with traveling required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and customization of resumes, cover letters, and thank you letters.
  • Work with participants to develop and hone interviewing skills (including disclosing disabilities and discussing accommodations if applicable) with employers.
  • Assess and assist participants with any needed job-seeking skills including locating employment opportunities and supporting them to complete job applications. When possible, you will provide individuals with interview and general presentation feedback gained from prospective employers. Offer skills development coaching as needed.
  • Provide one-on-one guidance to participants with a focus on aligning interests, strengths, and capabilities with employment opportunities.
  • Develop a placement or job-searching plan in accordance with the participant’s vocational interests and abilities.
  • Network with employment site leadership team members.
  • Work with participants to address any transportation challenges that may be present.
  • Complete case notes.
  • Complete monthly reports.

Requirements and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or 4 years of equivalent experience.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.
