GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the Foster Care Director, the Social Worker provides social work/case management services for foster youth who are in placement within the agency. The Social Worker provides training and support to Tapestry’s resource families. The Social Worker serves as a member of the Treatment Team and is responsible for participation in the development, monitoring and implementation of the foster youth’s Needs and Services Plan. Social Workers provide Care Manager III services which include provision of ICC, CFT and IHBS services in support of children placed in resource family homes. These services are in addition to regulatory and/or necessary services including but not limited to documentation in the mental health record and fall under the parameters of Medi-Cal billing standards. The Social Worker role involves regular travel using a vehicle to allow participation in client-related support services, transportation of clients, home visits, etc. In the event a company vehicle is not available staff are required to utilize their personal vehicles (mileage reimbursement provided).

On an as-needed basis, the Social Worker participates in the On-Call rotation providing support to resource families and foster youth, as well as collaboration with County for short notice and/or after-hours foster placements.

This job description is not intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which the employee is responsible. Other tasks may be assigned, based on client and/or business needs and the department supervisor’s request.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATONS:

  • A master’s degree in social work or social welfare, marriage, family, and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology, educational psychology or education with emphasis on counseling, from an accredited or state approved graduate school, OR
  • Personnel who do not meet the master’s degree requirements may be granted an exception provided completion of course work and field practice or experience requirements specified below (college transcripts and/or employment records required):

~At least 3 (three) semester units or 100 days of field practice or experience in a public or private social service agency.

~At least 9 (nine) semester units of course work related to children and families or 18 months experience in working with children and families.

~At least 3 (three) semester units in working with minority populations; 6 (six) months of experience working with minority populations; or 6 (six) months in-service training in working with minority populations within the first year of employment as a condition of employment.

~At least 3 (three) semester units in child welfare, or two years’ experience in a public or private child welfare social services setting.

*If an applicant has a master’s degree in a different specialty, or meets the other qualifications listed above, the applicant must receive an exception from Community Care Licensing in order to fulfill qualification requirements.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Must clear background check with FBI, DOJ, CACI, Driver's License, Current Auto Insurance, Clean DMV Printout meeting company insurance requirements, required trainings post start date.

Medical conditions of employment: Obtain TB Test and Physical at time of offer.

SALARY:

Social Worker Hourly Range: $28.00 to $34.03
