Part-time Oncology Support and Family Counselor - LCSW or LCPC(or LSW / LPC’s who are eligible for clinical licensure)

Summary Job Description:

The OSFC is responsible for facilitating support groups, providing individual consultation and counseling, and leading workshops and classes for individuals and families of all ages and healthcare professionals. This position maintains required licensure and certifications and adheres to safety guidelines related to participant paperwork/registration, facility/equipment maintenance, and emergency protocols. Additionally, the OSFC participates in program development and evaluation to support the continuous quality improvement of the programs across all locations and online.

Location: On-site at main location in Hinsdale and partner locations

Pay: $28.85 to $35.40 per hour

Hours: 20 hours per week with one evenings weekly, and one Saturday half-day monthly. *will be discussed during interview; based on program needs*

Required/Non-negotiable: Must be able to work Wednesdays from 11am - 3pm for staff meetings and (1) Saturday per month from 9am - 1pm.

Travel: Must be able to travel to partner locations when needed (within Chicago proper)- (Milage reimbursement IRS rate)

Requirements:

Education: Master's degree or higher in psychology, social work, or related field

Licensure: LCSW or LCPC(or LSW / LPC’s who are eligible for clinical licensure)

Job Experience: Two years professional experience in community health-related work preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Work with Participants (Approximately 80%)

Support and Family Programs

  • Facilitate individual and group programs, including planning and leading support, connections, and bereavement groups for people impacted by cancer, including necessary group preparation and participant follow-up.
  • Plan and deliver psycho-educational workshops and classes for participants relevant to area of expertise and based on participant need.
  • Provide consultation and short-term counseling for individuals and families as assigned.

Participant Engagement

  • Facilitate participant entry into WH programs through engagement, assessment, support, triage, introduction to programs, and referrals as needed.
  • Follow up with participants at appropriate intervals to monitor progress, assess needs, schedule appointments, and provide resources and assistance.
  • Provide service delivery through community program referrals and social service resources, in addition to WH resources.
  • Provide coverage, assistance, and support at the front desk, as needed
  • Assist with outreach and recruitment of new participants.
  • Promptly complete appropriate documentation, attendance, and participant efforts in the participant database, Mindbody Online (MBO).

Information & Education Programs and Program Special Events

  • Create and facilitate educational presentations, workshops, and events as assigned.
  • Facilitate Welcome to Wellness House Orientations and survivorship programs as assigned.

Program Support and Outreach (15%)

  • As needed, recruit, interview, and recommend volunteers, interns, and contractual staff.
  • Work with the program team to develop group policies and procedures, including the group purpose, eligibility, goal setting, and evaluation.
  • Assist manager with the supervision of daily work, training, and scheduling of department volunteers and interns, as requested.
  • Participate in program development and the evaluation of programs as requested.
  • Work with team to develop, support, implement, and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to provide quality programs to diverse communities.

Other (5%)

  • Promptly report to the Office Manager and supervisor any observations of malfunction or inadequacy of the WH facility that would compromise the safety of staff and participants or negatively impact the delivery of WH programs.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Perform general tasks and other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
  • Experience facilitating support groups required.
  • Knowledge and aptitude working with Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
