Lecturer of Psychology
Barnard College is a premier liberal arts undergraduate college for women in New York City affiliated with Columbia University. The Department of Psychology seeks two full-time Lecturers to start July 1, 2026.
Job Description
The Lecturer teaching load at Barnard is 6 courses per year. The Lecturer in Personality Psychology would teach Personality Psychology lab, Research Methods and/or Statistics, and a specialized seminar. The Lecturer in Social Psychology would teach Social Psychology lab, Research Methods and/or statistics, and a specialized seminar. Responsibilities also include advising undergraduates in the Psychology major, and performing departmental and college-level service as appropriate. The Lecturer position is full-time, with opportunities for review and renewal at the 3rd year and promotion at the 7th year of service (to Senior Lecturer).
Required Qualifications
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Candidates must have a PhD in Psychology or a related discipline at time of appointment, proven capacity for teaching excellence in Social or Personality Psychology, experience advising and mentoring at the college level, and the ability and desire to perform service within the department and college. We are especially interested in candidates who are able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds.
