Study Testing Counselor

Job Description
Cure Staffing Inc is seeking Study Testing Counselors for the 2025 cycle focused on heterosexually active persons (HET). The Study aims to measure HIV prevalence, testing practices, access to prevention services, and behaviors among key populations. Counselors will conduct interviewer-administered surveys, offer HIV and syphilis testing, provide counseling, and link participants to appropriate care and services. Training for all study activities will be provided.

Contract Details

• Temporary part-time position ( 28 hrs a week )
• End Date: Tentative end date December 20, 2025
• Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (28 hours/week, 1-hour unpaid lunch per day)
• Some evening and weekend shifts may be required
• Work location: Various sites across NYC
• Pay: $32 / hr direct deposit on tuesdays

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Fluency in Spanish preferred (not required)
• Experience working with the community

Skills and Requirements

• Ability to work shifts during evenings and weekends, if needed
• Ability to learn and use computerized data entry programs
• Comfortable discussing sensitive topics such as health, sex, drug use, and stigma/discrimination
• Strong oral communication skills
• Can comply with strict confidentiality protocols
• Ability to work collaboratively within a research team and adhere to detailed survey research protocols
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience in establishing rapport with diverse racial/ethnic and socioeconomic groups is preferred
• Experience conducting HIV and/or syphilis testing and counseling is an advantage but not required

Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow assigned HIV and syphilis testing and counseling protocols
• Conduct interviewer-administered surveys with participants
• Provide pre-test counseling and prepare participants for HIV/syphilis testing
• Deliver and explain HIV and syphilis results to participants
• Offer information on HIV and syphilis prevention
• Address participant questions regarding testing and counseling
• Assist in linking participants to care and services as needed
• Communicate effectively with the supervisor and be prompt for all study activities
• Uphold strict confidentiality and research protocols at all times

Job Types: Temporary, Part-time

Pay: $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 per week
