About Job

Role: The Core Faculty for the Counseling Programs at the Townsend Institute is responsible for teaching, mentoring, advising and collaborating in the curricular and accreditation efforts of the Counseling Programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:

Responsibilities involve but are not limited to:

  • Teach Counseling Across the Curriculum within the MA in Counseling program, including emphases in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling, with the potential to contribute to teaching in the PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision program.
  • Manage and facilitate courses effectively in an online environment, with appropriate digital pedagogy
  • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert on one or more courses within the MA or PhD programs, to include updating content and providing leadership to all adjunct faculty who teach the course
  • Teaches and supervises within the Field program as needed
  • With the Director and Core Faculty ensure all program components are aligned to the Institute and University's mission, as well as appropriate WUSCUS and CACREP standards.
  • Represents the department on at least one university committee as needed
  • Attends and participates in annual on-campus multi-day Residency experience, to include leading groups, conducting trainings and supervising students.
  • Attends and participates in on-campus commencement ceremonies as needed
  • Is an active member of the CUI faculty and participates in all faculty duties such as plenary meetings, school meetings, core faculty meetings and committee work as assigned
  • Engages in professional development and scholarship opportunities in the counseling field, church and local community
  • Assists with CACREP Accreditation preparation and site visits to ensure accreditation of the program.
  • With the Director and Core Faculty ensure all program components are aligned to the Institute and University's mission, as well as appropriate WUSCUS and CACREP standards.

Education and/or Experience:

The following are the minimum requirements for this position:

  • Prior teaching experience in a Counseling Program
  • A terminal degree in Counselor Education and Supervision (EdD or PhD) from a CACREP accredited program.
  • Licensure in Mental Health Counseling or Licensed Professional Counselor with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience
  • Ability and willingness to undergo training in the Townsend model.

$66,000 - $105,000/yr
