How You'll Make An Impact

Job Summary:

  • Assesses and treats individuals with mental, emotional, and/or substance abuse problems
  • Conducts patient/client assessments independently; evaluates patients’/clients’ psycho-social needs
  • Determines appropriate treatment types and methods
  • Develops, implements, and modifies treatment plans
  • Implements intervention methodologies
  • Counsels/coaches patients/clients and families regarding therapies and how to manage ongoing health conditions
  • Coordinates and/or provides therapy to help patients/clients make positive behavior changes
  • Performs interventions according to treatment plans and organizational policies
  • Ensures treatment notes are recorded in patients’/clients’ medical charts in accordance with industry standards and organizational policies
  • Makes referrals to case managers
  • Coordinates and/or refers families to psychosocial community support services and resources
  • Supports staff members and provides direction to clinical team for implementing treatment plans
  • Furthers own education and implements community educational programs
  • May travel to patients’/clients’ homes to render services
  • Performs miscellaneous duties

What You’ll Need To Apply

Required Education:

  • Master’s degree in a mental health specialty (e.g., Master of Social Work, Master of Mental Health, Master of Mental Health Counseling, or Master of Marriage and Family Therapy) from an accredited university


Required Experience:

  • None


Required Certification/License/Registry:

  • No license required
  • NOTE: If providing home health care
    • Valid state driver license
    • Required to be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and with a minimum of two (2) years of licensed driving experience
    • Required to provide a seven (7)-year driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) prior to employment
    • Will have received no more than two (2) minor violations in the past three (3) years and zero (0) major violations in the past five (5) years. Use of personal vehicle(s) required
    • Vehicle owner must maintain adequate insurance coverage for personal vehicle(s) used in conjunction with duties
    • Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) will reimburse the business use of personal vehicle(s) in accordance with procedures defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
