About Job

The staff clinician/counselor provides direct clinical services to IL Tech students, plans and delivers outreach during low volume periods, and consults with staff, faculty, parents, and community partners. S/he will participate in the overall mission and vision of the Student Health and Wellness Center, Division of Student Affairs and the University.

We are seeking a team-oriented counselor with strong clinical skills ready to meet the increasing severity of college students’ mental health needs. Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented student populations, a commitment to social justice, as well as competencies individual and group therapy and crisis management is preferred.

COMMUNICATIONS
Provision of direct clinical services for IL Tech students seeking psychological services, including but not limited to, triage/walk in appointments, crisis management/response, individual psychotherapy sessions, group therapy, and case management. It is expected see a minimum of 35 scheduled clients per week.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Additional duties as assigned: administrative or special projects as assigned depending on the needs of students and the clinic. Plan and deliver outreach during low volume periods. This position may need to cover extended hours (evening/weekend hours) during high volume periods. This incumbent may need to cover the on-call pager that is rotated among staff.

Special Schedule Requirements
38.75 hours/week covering extended hours

Qualifications

Education & Experience
The qualified applicant must have a Master’s Degree in a relevant field, including counseling, psychology or social work.

Masters degree or higher in a mental health field (psychology, counseling, social work) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in individual and group counseling. Works experience in college counseling or with college-age or graduate school population is preferred.

Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required. Independent problem-solving skills and self-directed work experience required.

Knowledge & Skills
Microsoft Office

Experience with or the ability to learn an electronic medical record such as PointnClick.

SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
This position does not involve budget authority
This position does not provide supervision

Physical Environment and Requirements
Standard office environment. Some meetings and/or outreach events may occur on campus outside of the Student Health and Wellness Center. Some time may be spent at the Graduate/Adams campus.

Certifications and Licenses

The applicant must be licensed in the State of Illinois along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in with crisis management, triage, and individual and group therapy.
