The district is situated between the beautiful Letchworth and Stony Brook State parks. There are two campuses; the Dalton Campus has one elementary (grades Prek-4), and the Nunda Campus has one middle school (grades 5-8) and one high school (grades 9-12).
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused School Counselor to join our district team. The counselor will support the academic, social-emotional, and career development of students across all grade levels. This role includes providing direct services to students, collaborating with families and staff, and implementing a comprehensive counseling program aligned with district goals, the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model, and New York State standards.
Responsibilities:
Provide individual and small-group counseling to address academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and college/career readiness needs.
Design and deliver classroom guidance lessons that promote social-emotional learning, decision-making skills, academic success, and postsecondary planning.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop strategies that promote student growth and achievement.
Support students through crisis response and make referrals to outside agencies as appropriate.
Participate in student support teams, IEP/504 processes, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
Guide students in developing academic goals, exploring career pathways, and planning for college, career, and life after graduation.
Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with confidentiality standards, and uphold professional ethics.
Engage in ongoing professional learning and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture.
Job Qualifications
Qualifications:
Valid New York State Certification: School Counselor required
The individual must have the ability to collaboratively work with colleagues, maintain accurate records and have a strong knowledge of outside resources available to support students
The individual must have knowledge of behavior modification techniques and have strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize and coordinate work
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
Experience:
Experience as a School Counselor is preferred but not required.
