Job Posting: Admissions Counselor

Location: 130 Rumsey Street, Bath
Employment Type: Full Time, 40 hours a week

Salary: $20.00 hr. starting

About the Role:

Under general supervision, assists with admissions for substance use disorder clients into the program. Maintains confidentiality and ethical standards as identified by OASAS, or other relevant governing bodies. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff, adhering to established agency communication protocols and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides comprehensive information to clients and their families about the facility's programs, services, and treatment options available.
  • Manages the admissions process, including the completion of necessary paperwork and documentation required for client intake.
  • Works closely with medical, psychological, and therapeutic staff to ensure a smooth transition for clients entering treatment.
  • Addresses urgent admissions and assist clients in crisis, providing support and referrals as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential client records in compliance with OASAS guidelines and HIPAA regulations.
  • Engages in outreach efforts to promote the facility’s services and build relationships with community organizations, hospitals, and other potential referral sources.
  • Monitors client’s post-admission to ensure they are receiving adequate support and to facilitate continued engagement in treatment.
  • Completes and maintains all necessary documentation in compliance with the agency and appropriate regulatory standards.
  • Ensures that LOCADTR, Admission Notes, Initial Determination letter, initial treatment plan, Appendix A and consent to bill are sent to Billing Department within 48 hours of admission.
  • Ensures that Concurrent Reviews are sent to the Billing Department when requested.
  • Ensure discharge notifications are sent to the Billing Department on the day of discharge as well as Discharge LOCADTR and Discharge Summaries are sent within 7 days of discharge.
  • Participates in Weekly Clinical Meetings
  • Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings
  • Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.
  • Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Education: Associates preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required.

· Credentials:CASAC or willingness to obtain CASAC

Valid NY State Driver License and access to a reliable vehicle

· Experience: Experience working with substance use disorders or mental health support is preferred

  • Relevant combination of education and experience will be considered

  • Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing and documentation standards. All duties must be performed in accordance with CCDR’s corporate compliance and ethics program.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, plan, and complete work projects with minimal direction
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal/written skills
  • Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.
  • Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle.
  • Ability to work in the following software programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors and attitudes which support organizational mission, philosophy, and policies
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and helpful manner with all individuals
  • Willingness and ability to foster agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques
