JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Operates within a county correctional jail setting to provide clinical support. Communicates and coordinates with courts, judges, court-appointed clinical psychologists, Department of Human Services, and community services. Works with correctional staff regarding health and safety of detainees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide mental health and substance use counseling.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and coordinate services.
  • Communicate and coordinate with courts, judges, court appointed clinical psychologists, Illinois Department of Human Services, and community services.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Jail Classification Division in the interest of providing insight related to detainee housing.
  • Communicate and work with jail correctional staff, including Infirmary staff, as it relates to detainee health and safety.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
  • Skilled in use of technology.
  • Must successfully pass a thorough police background investigation to be conducted by the Sheriff’s Office.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

Master’s degree in Human Services field required

Years of Experience

Experience providing mental health services to individuals in the criminal justice system, substance use disorders and/or co-occurring populations preferred.

Certification/Licensure

QMHP required.
