About the position

AQE is looking to add a NYC Bilingual Child Care Organizing Coordinator to our team. This position will focus on base building in NYC around universal child care, with a special focus on parents and child care educators in residential settings. This position reports to the Co-Executive Director.


Job Description:

  • Strategic Organizing & District Engagement
    • Prioritize districts within NYC with high legislative impact
    • Participate in local coalitions of providers, parent leaders, and community stakeholders
  • Designing and implementing parent & child care educator leadership development programs
    • Support parent leaders: help them testify, attend meetings, or speak at events
  • Outreach and base building
  • Facilitate leadership development: organize trainings, teach-ins, and workshops in collaboration with the Empire State Campaign on Child Care
  • Assist bilingual providers in parent outreach and recruitment for advocacy
  • Coordinate parent‑led actions (rallies, letter campaigns, community forums)
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years of paid organizing experience, with at least one in the child care setting (e.g. grassroots, education, housing, social services)
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and advancing organizing programs and campaigns, or similar for 1-2 years.
  • Bilingual with fluency in Spanish (required)
  • Able to organize parents and early childhood educators including those who are Spanish speakers.
  • Proven skills in leadership development, bilingual outreach, and running bilingual campaigns
  • Deep experience using outreach tools: canvassing, phone‑banking, text‑banking, and database management
  • Exceptional communication (one‑on‑one conversations, group facilitation, written materials in English/Spanish).
  • Strong data and reporting skills, including comfort with spreadsheets and CRM systems.
  • Flexible schedule for evenings/weekends as organizing demands escalate

Salary range
: $70,000 - $74,000
