Job Title: Chemical Dependency Counselor
Location: Brasstown, NC
Contract Duration: October 13, 2025 – January 12, 2026 (13 Weeks)
Employment Type: Contract / Temporary
Shift: Day Shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, 8 hours/day)
Weekly Hours Guarantee: 40 hours
Weekend Requirements: Every Other Saturday (6:15 AM – 8:30 AM)
On Call: Not Required

Position Overview
MedMark Treatment Centers, a BayMark Health Services Company, is seeking a Chemical Dependency Counselor to provide high-quality treatment and case management services to patients with opioid use disorder. This role involves conducting patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, coordinating care with medical professionals, and providing counseling services in compliance with state and federal regulations. The counselor will support patients’ physical, emotional, and mental recovery while adhering to BayMark’s standards of care and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate and timely patient files and documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans according to State OTP regulations.
- Provide individual counseling, patient education, and advocacy for patients receiving methadone maintenance and detoxification treatment.
- Coordinate patient care and communicate patient status with the treatment team.
- File body specimen test results and utilize results to monitor treatment success and take-home medication eligibility.
- Coordinate with medical professionals for dose adjustments, Step Levels, exceptions, and annual justifications.
- Conduct patient intake, orientation, and develop discharge summaries, transition plans, and interpretive summaries.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed and participate in counseling supervision sessions.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to program development activities.
- Support organizational philosophies, goals, and objectives through professional conduct and team collaboration.
- Maintain compliance with all federal and state regulatory standards and BayMark policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Active CADC or LADC certification, or in the process of obtaining one.
- Experience working with opiate-addicted populations.
- Skilled in conducting patient assessments, utilizing ASI criteria, developing treatment plans, coordinating services, and crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of drug effects, signs and symptoms of narcotic overdose, psychosocial implications of addiction, and social/economic/legal/medical systems related to addiction.
- Excellent communication and professional skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain a positive team environment.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Two supervisory references covering at least one year of comparable experience.
