About Job

Achievement Behavior Services is an Applied Behavior Analysis agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence. Presently, we are seeking ABA Behavioral Technicians (BTs) to join our network of dedicated ABA professionals, to provide direct ABA services to children with ASD, in collaboration with one of our many esteemed Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBAs).

The Position/Job Description of a Behavior technician:

In the role of Behavior technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors. According to this BIP, on a daily basis, you will collect numerical and qualitative data on these goals. The charted progress will be used to create new, personalized interventions and goals as the relationship with the student progresses from month-to-month.


The Qualifications of a Behavior Technician:

  • Relevant Fields of Study in Applied Behavior Analytics, psychology, special education, speech language pathology, and occupational therapy

  • MULTILINGUAL IS A PLUS!

  • Relevant Certification: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

  • Strong stakeholder communication skills required

  • Ability to be adaptable under high-stress situations

  • Exhibits professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness

  • Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children in the SPED community

  • Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues

  • Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.

  • Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches

  • Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals


Expectations of a Behavior Technician:

  • Study patient behavior and apply ABA principles

  • Respond appropriately to different situations common among Autism patients and others with behavioral and developmental challenges

  • Utilize key communication skills to provide effective feedback to patients

  • Effectively communicate positive feedback to patients

  • Be able to recognize and respond to critical improvements in patient behaviors.

  • Become familiar with and use behavioral redirection techniques

  • Know how to respond to negative behaviors appropriately

  • Provide written documentation on each patient.

  • Taking initiative to actively seek clinical direction from supervisor when support is needed

  • Respectful and consistent communication with all stakeholders including, but not limited to client caregivers and students, supervisors, and coworkers

  • Engaging in bidirectional feedback loops with professional attitude
