Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavior Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with children and individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, to implement behavior intervention plans based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles. Your primary focus will be on supporting clients in achieving their personal goals while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and encouragement to patients at all times; provide encouragement to patients in a variety of settings.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and activities.
- Maintain professional boundaries with patients and seek supervision if appropriate.
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Collect and record data on client progress and behaviors accurately and consistently.
- Assist clients in developing social skills, communication, and daily living skills through structured activities.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling medical documentation and records.
- Collaborate with families and caregivers to provide updates on client progress and strategies for support.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in applied behavior analysis.
- Ensure a safe environment by monitoring client behavior and responding appropriately to any incidents or challenges.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 18 years or older
- Pass competency assessment(s)
- Pass Criminal Background Check
- Reliable Transportation
- Previous experience working with children. Experience with autism or other intellectual disabilities is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Availability to work a part-time or full-time schedule, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 am -6 pm
- Motivation and commitment to become a Registered Behavior Technician within 90 days of employment via our innovative training program that prepares you to be a successful RBT
Skills
- Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly those with autism.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical documentation practices.
- Familiarity with data collection methods related to behavioral interventions.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- A compassionate approach towards individuals with disabilities, demonstrating patience and empathy in all interactions.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to walk and stand 75% of the workday
- Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and sit on the floor throughout the work day or for an extended period of time.
- Ability to respond quickly in short distances (100 feet) in response to the movements and behaviors of children.
- Willingness and ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings.
