Under the general direction of the JBCR Supervisor, the Care Coordinator assists with daily curriculum, provides case management services, and interacts with people enrolled in the Jail-Based Competency Restoration (JBCR) program. Assists with administrative and communication with court and jail staff. The Care Coordinator will provide forensic instructional programming; document the individual's progress, monitor the individual's progress toward competency restoration, transition services, and discharge planning. The Care Coordinator will report any difficulties the individual may be experiencing to supervisory staff. The Care Coordinator will work collaboratively with jail staff, court staff, and administrative staff. The Care Coordinator will also be responsible. For daily, accurate clinical documentation that will be shared with the court. The Care Coordinator will also conduct other programming with individuals, such as group therapy, wellness exercises, and art therapy, and help formulate other programming. They will also oversee and coordinate discharge planning and coordination of further services as necessary.
You will get to:
- Assists with Groups and Educational curriculum. Assists with the provision of legal education training, and psychosocial skills
- training that addresses their competency to stand trial and their symptoms related to mental illness and/or substance abuse issues.
- Provide training/education with jail staff on the nature of mental illness as outlined in Comal and Hill Country curricula under the supervision of the Program Manager.
- Communicate with JBCR Educators and all staff in the program about persons staff about persons served.
- Assists with administrative support for the JBCR Program Manager in accordance with departmental/organizational procedures.
- Monitors consumer progress with treatment goals.
- Maintain the flow of information for court orders using multiple systems and effectively communicate with judges, attorneys, and other court staff as needed.
- Attends and participates in team meetings with the clinical team.
- Works well with others in a collaborative manner.
- Actively participates as a member of the team.
- Complies with Hill Country and Comal SO policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies, and contractual requirements.
- Demonstrates ethical conduct, professionalism, and confidentiality in all activities and works with staff/patients/outside personnel in a manner that demonstrates sensitivity to cultural diversities.
- Adapts to changing work requirements.
You'll definitely need:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, behavioral or human services, or a related degree.
- A valid Texas State Driver's License.
- Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel when necessary.

- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and encourage others.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with multiple data systems such as Excel and Access
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, high level of motivation, energy, and service-focused mindset are a must.
- Speaks and writes clearly, utilizing proper English grammar, and effectively communicates with all levels of employees and management; has effective group presentation skills for meetings and training sessions.
- Must be an independent thinker and innovative problem-solver, including being able to identify issues and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently; is able to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Able to meet tight deadlines in time-sensitive situations while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback.
