Overview
The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals, particularly those with developmental disabilities and acute care needs. This position involves working closely with patients to assess their mental health status, develop treatment plans, and deliver counseling services.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient CANS or ANSA assessments to evaluate mental health needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to individuals in acute distress, ensuring safety and stabilization.
  • Deliver individual sessions focused on client's mental health issues and coordination of care needs
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within a myriad of settingss to coordinate care for client's
  • Document all patient interactions and treatment progress accurately in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Engage with families to provide support and education regarding mental health challenges faced by their loved ones.
  • Direct Service Provision
  • Provide solution-focused counseling during crisis episodes
  • Deliver ongoing crisis intervention sessions to maintain client stability
  • Offer psychoeducation to clients and families regarding mental health conditions and coping strategies
  • Connect clients to appropriate community resources and ongoing mental health services
  • Support clients in developing and implementing crisis prevention strategies

Skills

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in mental health services, preferably in crisis intervention or community-based settings
  • Experience with or willingness to be trained in CANS and ANSA assessment tools
  • Knowledge of strength-based assessment principles and practices
  • Strong de-escalation and crisis intervention skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations and cultural competency
  • Experience working with individuals who are experiencing mental health instability
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and acute care practices.
  • Strong background in mental health/and or human service field
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance in all patient interactions.
  • Electronic Record Management System experience
  • Knowledge of intervention techniques to support patients through difficult emotional and psychiatric experiences.

Documentation

  • Complete detailed intervention progress notes and treatment documentation within required timeframes
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in compliance with state and federal regulations

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Work collaboratively with professionals within members supports including psychiatrists, case managers etc
  • Provide consultation to community partners, including schools, law enforcement, and healthcare providers
  • Weekly Virtual clinical supervision

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport quickly
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings and some weekends
  • Physical and emotional stamina to handle high-stress situations
  • Commitment to providing multiple weekly sessions as needed for client stability

Working Conditions

  • Position requires travel throughout the service area for community-based interventions
  • May involve exposure to potentially challenging situations
  • Work performed in various settings including clients' homes, community centers, and office locations
  • Regular in-person client contact with multiple sessions per week
