The Substance Use Counselor is responsible for providing a structured program of skilled treatment services for adults
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete Multidimensional Assessments for participants.
- Develop Individual Service plans in collaboration with team of credentialed addiction treatment professionals.
- Complete and submit service authorizations, along with tracking and monitoring.
- Provide individual, family and/or group psychotherapy in accordance to the ISP.
- Provide occupational and recreational therapies, motivational interviewing, enhancement, and engagement strategies to inspire a participant's motivation to change behaviors.
- Link participants with other community resources such as psychiatric services.
- Maintain care coordination with outside treatment providers.
- Advocate for participant in response to their changing needs, based on changes in the ISP.
- Establish close working relationships with other professionals.
- Provide psycho-pharmacological consultation as needed.
- Provide withdrawal management services as necessary by either on site or through referral.
- Be available for 24-hour emergency services.
- Use therapeutic relationship to build participant’s positive skills/behaviors.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of mental health disorders, their symptoms, treatment and social implications in relation to participant and family.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques.
- Ability to evaluate psychological problems.
- Advanced knowledge of individual and group behavior and the effective ways of working with people to produce on-going recovery.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent developmental stages.
- Knowledge of mental disorders of children and adolescence.
- Ability to evaluate, design and implement therapeutic day treatment program components.
- Demonstrated skill in management and supervisory functions.
Job Requirements
- Provide and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Experience in public speaking and counseling
- Conduct visits within the homes of participants, which may not meet your personal living standards.
- Have access to and ability to use a computer, printer, internet services, flash drive and other necessary items and equipment to produce electronic program documentation/paper work.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
- Be able and willing to operate a 15 passenger van.
Educations and Specifications
SA Counselor must be a Credentialed Addiction Treatment Professional (CSAC) acting within their scope of experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
