Job Title: Regional Clinical Director
Location(s): All Orange County Facilities owned and operated by Alter Management
Shift: Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional weekend coverage will be required to meet the needs of our 24/7 residential facility.
Reports to: Chief Clinical and Operations Officer
Direct Reports: Therapists and Care Path Managers

Job Summary:
The Regional Clinical Director's principal function is to lead a team of compassionate staff to care for individuals suffering from addiction and/or co-occurring disorders. The Clinical Director oversees, assigns, coordinates, and assists staff in providing scientifically based counseling services to clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensuring proper care is being provided in accordance with program guidelines, developing and providing ongoing clinical and administrative staff development and program planning.
- The Clinical Director collaborates with licensed and non‐licensed direct clinical service staff and consultants in the administration of services in low, moderate, and high acuity patients and participants.
- The position requires cooperation with the participants' independent primary care and/or psychiatric providers, in an effort to coordinate care for the effective treatment of complex and multiple diagnoses.
- On call 24/7 for clinical emergencies, consultations, and call outs.
- Effective at developing master treatment plans and discharge planning to ensure positive treatment outcomes.
- Able to create and develop evidence based treatment programming and curriculum.
- Work in collaboration with the program director and implement behavioral health quality assurance processes.
- Evaluate and conduct assessment on treatment procedures and provide professional consultation and leadership to the clinical team.
- Recognize situations requiring the creative application of clinical skills.
- Ability to manage and supervise clinical staff and train staff on clinical intervention strategies, treatment planning and screenings as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding privileged administrative and participant information in a professional manner.
- Carries a small caseload of 3-5 clients (Subject to change) to counsel clients individually or in groups on planned or experimental basis and in emergencies.
- Adheres to Joint Commission accreditation and DHCS, and DSS compliance standards/guidelines.
- Proficient in EMR system and ASAM documentation Criteria.
- Advanced computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Attending and facilitating treatment team meetings on a weekly basis.
- Coaching and supervising the clinical team members who are obtaining BSS hours towards licensure.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to remain on feet for extended periods, including walking, standing, Walk up and down stairs multiple times per shift..
- Safely operate and maintain company vehicles when assigned to drive.
- Work is primarily conducted in a clinical inpatient mental health setting
- May require responding to emergency/crisis situations
- Frequent use of a computer, phone, and company equipment
- Must be able to safely interact with clients experiencing psychiatric symptoms or distress
- Traveling to and from different locations such as the Corporate office for meetings with the leadership team as well as going to different locations in one day. (Irvine, Dana point, San Juan Capistrano, Capistrano Beach)
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
- Possession of a valid, in-good-standing license as an LMFT, LCSW, Ph.D., or PsyD.
- Strong clinical understanding of substance use disorder, adult mental health, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
- Cultural sensitivity and a desire to work with an ethnically diverse adult population.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a DHCS and DSS licensed residential program.
- At least 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
- Master's Level Degree in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Counseling, or Social Work.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Current CPR & First Aid Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPI training (or willingness to obtain).
