Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Intake Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The Intake Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing patient intake processes, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently. This position requires strong communication skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and proficiency with various electronic medical record (EMR) systems. The ideal candidate will be able to provide exceptional patient service while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Manage the intake process for new patients, including collecting personal and insurance information.
- Review and verify medical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate care plans for patients.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others to maintain patient records.
- Conduct insurance verification and assist patients with understanding their coverage options.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care transitions.
- Maintain accurate records of medical coding using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and other relevant coding systems.
- Assist in the training of new staff on intake procedures and office management practices.
Skills
- Proficient in medical collection processes and terminology.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices.
- Familiarity with medical billing and coding processes including ICD coding and CPT coding.
- Bilingual skills are a plus for effective communication with diverse patient populations.
- Previous clinic or hospital experience preferred; experience in a dental office is also beneficial.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction.
