Internship Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Mental Health / Substance Use Disorder Therapist Intern to join our clinical team. This internship offers hands-on experience in mental health and substance use counseling, case management, and program operations. Interns will work under the supervision of licensed clinicians and gain exposure to a wide range of therapeutic practices and care coordination strategies.

 

Pay: This is an unpaid internship designed for educational and professional development purposes.

 

 

What You’ll Learn:

  • Conducting screenings, intakes, and assessments
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans
  • Providing individual, group, and family counseling
  • Engaging in crisis intervention and patient education
  • Coordinating care with internal teams and external agencies
  • Documenting services in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards
  • Participating in quality assurance and program evaluation activities

Responsibilities

(Under Supervision)

  • Maintain a small caseload and assist with primary counselor duties
  • Support treatment planning, referrals, and case management
  • Attend clinical team meetings and contribute to care coordination
  • Participate in staff training and development activities
  • Assist with program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program for Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Creative Arts Therapy.
  • Strong interest in behavioral health and substance use treatment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
