**This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM minimum rate for this classification is $8,265 (Range U - Unlicensed/ACSW) and $8,876 (Range V - Licensed/LCSW).**

The Clinical Social Worker (Discharge Coordinator ) will be directed by the Program Director in the Department of Social Work Service at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:

  • Provide and/or coordinate discharge planning services, continuing care plans and other case management services on behalf of hospitalized patients with families, significant others, community partners, CONREP, and the courts.
  • Applies and demonstrates knowledge of correct methods in Therapeutic Strategies and Interventions (TSI).
  • Assist in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment through response to physical assaults, escape attempts or other major patient disturbance, and assist in the management of the conduct of the patients.
  • Provide individual and group therapy services for patients that meet identified treatment needs, such as competency restoration for Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) population, sex offender treatment, social skills, reunification, and community integration and preparedness.
  • Maintain discharge metrics, document barriers to effective discharges, and participates in meetings and statewide workgroups as assigned.

    Working Conditions
    This position requires you to work within the Secured Treatment Area (STA).

    This position is classified as hybrid. It has options of the following schedules:

    • 5/8/40 with one day of telework per week
    • 4/10/40 with one day of telework per week
    • 9/8/80 with one day of telework per week

    The Medical Staff of DSH-Atascadero requires Clinical Social Worker candidates meet the Medical Staff criteria for allied health professional privileging set forth in the facility bylaws.     Interview / Relocation Information

    Reimbursement for interview and relocation expenses are available up to $10,000 pursuant to operational needs and fund availability.
