Duties And Responsibilities
Psychology Department Student Assistants provide support to faculty, staff, and students within the department. Responsibilities include assisting with administrative tasks such as organizing files, maintaining communication databases, and responding to emails or inquiries of students, faculty, and staff. Students will support faculty in preparing materials for courses, manage departmental social media accounts, and assist in coordinating events like guest lectures or research presentations. Additionally, Student Assistants may support faculty research labs by collecting and entering data, conducting literature reviews, or helping with recruitment for studies. Other tasks may include monitoring study spaces, assisting with psychology lab equipment, and providing general guidance to students regarding departmental resources.
Qualification And Requirements
To qualify for this position, students must be enrolled in a psychology or related program and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills. Attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canvas, and other administrative software is preferred. Experience with social media management is a plus. Candidates should have a flexible schedule that allows for a consistent work commitment of 15 hours or more per week. Prior experience in an office or academic setting is beneficial but not required. Enthusiasm for psychology and a willingness to learn are highly valued qualities in successful candidates.
