A Role with Purpose: Caring, Companionship, and Support
We are looking to hire 4 Per Diem Community Care Advocates.

The Community Care Advocate performs a variety of non-medical tasks including: companionship, advocacy, and enrichment programming for approximately 35 Sisters in their private residence. This unique opportunity is an ElderONE Pace center staffed 24/7. Experience in long term care, assisted living, or home health care is desirable. Sisters of Mercy offers shift & weekend differentials, free meals, free parking, and pay commensurate with experience. We are conveniently located off 590 at exit 6. Must have a valid and clean driver’s license.

• Pay Range: $17.50–$21.50/hour (based on experience)
• Per Diem | Flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
• Location: Rochester, NY (Mercy Center)
• Free meals & parking provided
• Driver’s License: Required, clean record
• Status: Non-Exempt

What You’ll Do:

• Foster a loving, nurturing, and supportive home environment
• Provide companionship, conversation, and engage in meaningful activities
• Support and conduct group and individualized programming (activities & religious)
• Follow support plans to meet non-medical needs of Sisters/Residents
• Report changes in condition, behavior, or well-being to appropriate personnel
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, and daily living tasks as needed
• Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and maintain a safe environment
• Deliver snacks, beverages, and support dining as needed
• Serve as a personal driver for Sisters and Residents to outings, appointments, and events
• Act responsibly when supervisors are off-site, exercising independent judgment
• Partner with the ElderONE team to ensure appropriate care and attention
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold dignity of all Sisters and Residents

What You Bring:

• At least 2 years of experience in gerontology, long-term care, or related field
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Compassion, reliability, and strong communication skills
• Flexibility with shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Valid, clean driver’s license required
• Familiarity with Catholic traditions and appreciation for the Sisters of Mercy community preferred
