Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA)

Founded in 1977, CASA is the official 501c3 domestic violence center based in Pinellas County, FL. We operate the area’s 24-hour hotline and emergency shelter; non-residential programs, such as support groups, economic empowerment and legal advocacy; Child Protective Investigative Team support; community and corporate training; and the CASA Peacemakers anti-bullying and healthy relationship school curriculum.

Position Title: Outreach & Housing Case Managers

Reports To: Housing Manager

Major Function: To provide case management, advocacy, housing resources, and safety planning to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

  • Provide case management, advocacy, safety planning, and housing resources to survivors of domestic violence and their children, with a focus area in North Pinellas County.
  • Complete intake process with survivor including assessments and developing a case plan to meet the survivor’s goals.
  • Facilitate and coordinate support groups/empowerment-based workshops.
  • Review all available services with survivor and link the survivor with appropriate resources & services.
  • Make appropriate referrals to community partners.
  • Collaborate with onsite and offsite partners to ensure wrap around services are provided.
  • Attend criminal and civil court as needed with survivors of domestic violence.
  • Assist survivors with injunction paperwork as needed.
  • Assist participants with housing applications, complete supportive and subsidized housing paperwork.
  • Assist participants with securing housing resources and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Complete housing paperwork, assessments, and inspections as needed to assist survivors with securing housing resources.
  • Participate in case reviews on a regular basis.
  • Complete all required paper work and data entry in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate services with community agencies through referrals and monitor service delivery to meet the goals of each participant.
  • Attend community meetings as requested by supervisor.
  • Perform monthly record keeping and statistical tasks as assigned.
  • Conduct street outreach as needed.
  • Conduct trainings on domestic violence as requested by your supervisor.
  • Facilitate housing or financial workshops as needed.
  • Ensure all contract required deliverables & requirements are met.
  • Provide back-up to CASA’s domestic violence hotline as needed.

General:

  • Understand and abide by CASA’s Confidentiality Policy and CASA’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to treat participants, volunteers, and co-workers in a respectful manner at all times.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist with training and supervision of volunteers.
  • Agree to work a flexible schedule, which may include changing schedules to ensure coverage, due to illness, absence, vacation other staff members. This includes working weekends or during emergency situations.
  • Compete all necessary trainings as required by the role.
  • Complete special projects and presentations as requested.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of college or relevant work-related experience preferred, or a minimum of 9 months of demonstrated success in a related CASA direct service position required.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or other social work, housing, or criminal justice related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current community resources and have the ability to maintain working relationships with agencies.
  • Agree to drive agency vehicles as needed.
  • Ability to function independently and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Possess a valid Florida State Driver’s License to be verified on an annual basis.
  • Agree to participate in a background check upon employment.
  • All employees of CASA are considered “essential” and as such may be required to be available to remain onsite and/or required to assist during emergencies and other critical times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
