WCA delivers rigorous, real-world learning in a supportive, nurturing community, empowering students to become reflective inquisitors, articulate communicators, critical thinkers, and skilled problem-solvers. We educate, inspire, and uncover the inner genius of every learner through project-based experiences that prepare them to be the cultural leaders of tomorrow.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a culturally responsive School Adjustment Counselor to join our founding K-6 team. You will collaborate with educators, families, and community partners to ensure each child—especially English Language Learners and students with IEPs—has the social-emotional tools to thrive. • Provide individual and group counseling; maintain clinical documentation.
  • Complete psycho-social assessments, Functional Behavioral Assessments, and behavior plans.
  • Write and monitor IEP social-emotional/behavioral goals; contribute at IEP & 504 meetings.
  • Conduct safety assessments, crisis intervention, and de-escalation as needed.
  • Facilitate lunch groups/crews to teach social skills and support positive transitions.
  • Deliver staff and family workshops on SEL, trauma-informed practices, and child development.
  • Build partnerships with outside agencies to connect students and families to services.
  • Support compliance (IEP, 504) and maintain accurate records.
  • Serve on school-wide committees and contribute to professional learning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred).
  • MA DESE license: School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor.
  • Experience in elementary and/or middle school settings.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, trauma-informed practice, and student-centered mindset.
  • Effective communication with diverse students, families, and staff.
  • Persistence, reflective practice, and “whatever-it-takes” spirit.
  • Preferred:
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish, Portuguese, or other language represented in Worcester).

Why Join the WCA Crew?

  • Mission-Driven Culture: Collaborate with colleagues who believe every child can excel through project-based learning.
  • Professional Growth: Extensive summer institute, ongoing EL Education coaching, and school-wide PD.
  • Community & Celebration: Lead orientation, exhibitions of learning, and joyful school traditions.
