The Native American Community Clinic (NACC) is seeking a full-time Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC or UMICAD) to join our Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessments
- Conduct Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) assessments for clients in both daily dosing and office-based MOUD programs
- Identify barriers and strengths using culturally responsive, trauma-informed tools
- Build connection through empathy, active listening, and respect for each client’s lived experience
Treatment Planning and Coordination
- Develop individualized, strengths-based treatment plans in collaboration with medical and behavioral health staff
- Coordinate care across disciplines and agencies to ensure wraparound support for each client
- Help clients navigate healthcare systems, housing resources, and recovery supports
- Provide advocacy, linkage, and follow-up with a whole-person approach
Counseling and Client Engagement
- Offer brief interventions and supportive counseling
- Motivate clients to engage in services, set goals, and define their own path to recovery
- Work closely with providers to ensure patients feel seen, respected, and supported throughout their treatment journey
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical records, including assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans
- Uphold NACC documentation standards and regulatory compliance
Cultural Competence and Community Connection
- Approach all work with deep respect for Native American traditions, family structures, and historical trauma
- Support traditional healing and community-based recovery strategies
- Stay grounded in cultural humility, recognizing that healing happens in relationship, not just in systems
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: LADC or UMICAD licensure
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, counseling, social work, or related field
- 1–2 years of experience in substance use disorder treatment, SBIRT, or counseling
- Experience working in Native or other culturally diverse communities preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance use treatment
- Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Deep empathy, cultural humility, and a nonjudgmental approach to client care
