Description

Bereavement Counselor - Intake

Assists the bereavement team in the operation of the bereavement program by completing intakes with new clients and providing referrals when appropriate. Making follow up calls to assess bereavement needs of primary caregivers and families; facilitating in-services and support groups; organizing regular memorial services. Supports the bereavement program by attending team meetings. Attend and participate in annual Camp Erin event.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat psychological, behavioral and emotional disorders as they relate to end of life care.
  • Provide specialized skills and mental health therapy for clients.
  • Identify barriers which impact optimal patient functioning.
  • Ensure patients receive appropriate resources in most appropriate setting.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree and human service experience required.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, counseling, or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • NYS licensing not required. LCSW preferred.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s license
  • A minimum of one-year experience in human services.
  • Three years related counseling/intake experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of grief and loss issues, including traumatic grief.

Pay Range: $31.50 - $45.23

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
