About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Intensive In-Home Specialist (Qualified Mental Health Professional or QMHP-T) to join our team. This position provides intensive in-home counseling services to children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional challenges, working closely with families to stabilize the home environment, prevent out-of-home placement, and strengthen support systems.

This role is ideal for professionals who want to make a direct impact in the lives of children, youth, and families by using evidence-based, solution-focused interventions in a home and community setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver intensive, short-term, solution-focused interventions to children, adolescents, and families.
  • Utilize assessments (completed by licensed staff) to inform treatment goals, interventions, and progress planning.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans with input from clients, families, and wraparound team members.
  • Provide direct clinical services, including individual and family sessions, parenting support, anger management, and other skill-building interventions.
  • Offer 24/7 emergency response and support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely progress notes and reports in compliance with DMAS and DBHDS regulations.
  • Facilitate care coordination and link families to appropriate community resources such as health care, childcare, financial supports, recreational activities, and transportation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, Child Specific Teams (CST), Family Assessment and Planning Teams (FAPT), and court hearings as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Supervisor to improve treatment effectiveness.
  • Prepare discharge plans and summaries for transitioning families.
  • Complete at least 20 hours per year of professional training to maintain compliance and enhance clinical skills.

Education & Experience

  • Required for QMHP: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related human services field and one year of experience providing mental health treatment to children/adolescents and families. Must meet Qualified Mental Health Professional – Child (QMHP-C) or QMHP-Trainee (QMHP-T) criteria and hold an active registration.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field with one year of experience in the mental health field.
  • QMHP-T candidates must have completed at least 3 years toward a human services degree and be currently enrolled in the degree program.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of youth and family intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with assessments and the ability to apply findings to treatment planning.
  • Strong interviewing, service planning, and clinical documentation skills.
  • Ability to teach parenting skills, anger management, and social skills.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Familiarity with community resources and systems of care.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills and electronic documentation.
  • Must pass criminal background check and central registry check.
  • Must successfully complete CPR, First Aid, Human Rights, and behavior management training.
