Pediatric Bereavement Counselor- Full-Time Capital Region

The pediatric counselor provides direct counseling services to pediatric clients and their families through individual/group counseling, Waveriders, and Camp Erin. This position entails coordinating school-based grief support, coordinating and participating in on-site family groups, conducting initial intake with bereaved families, assisting with community education and outreach. The pediatric counselor will assist with community crisis responses as needed. All bereavement staff participate in and attend annual Camp Erin event.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat psychological, behavioral and emotional disorders as they relate to end of life care.
  • Provide specialized skills and mental health therapy for clients.
  • Identify barriers which impact optimal patient functioning.
  • Ensure patients receive appropriate resources in most appropriate setting.
What you will need:
  • NYS SW Licensure.
  • Valid NYS Drivers license.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience ideally caring for seniors or those with advance illness.
  • The Community Hospice provides a thorough orientation and a supportive work environment.

Pay Range: $30.00 - $43.08

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
