Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health and addiction counseling, with a focus on providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role involves working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to implement personalized treatment plans, facilitate group therapy sessions, establish and monitor weekly goals, and conduct assessments to monitor progress.
Duties:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical evaluations and client needs.
- Provide group counseling sessions utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention, according to an established, evidence-based curriculum, overseen by the clinical team.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions that promote peer support and recovery strategies.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including patient records, intake forms, and progress notes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for clients, including case management and referrals to additional services as needed.
- Engage in crisis management strategies to support clients during critical moments of need.
- Participate in ongoing training and research initiatives to stay current with best practices in addiction medicine and behavioral health.
Experience
- Licensure as a chemical dependency counselor in Ohio at the level of LCDC II or above is required.
- Experience in psychotherapy, particularly in addiction counseling and mental health counseling.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation practices, and coding systems such as ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding.
- Knowledge of PTSD care methodologies and experience working within hospital environments is advantageous.
- Proficiency in data collection methods for research purposes related to substance abuse treatment outcomes.
- Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary team for patient care coordination.
- Preferred: Strong skills in case management, and behavior management techniques.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.33 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
