Job Title: Assessment Counselor – Inpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment
Location: Newport News, VA
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00am – 6:00pm
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Counselor to join our inpatient substance use disorder treatment program in Newport News. This role is responsible for conducting assessments, facilitating admissions, and providing clinical services in alignment with program standards and philosophy of care. The Counselor will play a vital role in guiding clients through the treatment process, ensuring quality care, and maintaining compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct screenings and level of care assessments, effectively communicating the process to clients.
Evaluate clients' behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social needs.
Collect demographic and historical information relevant to level of care assessments.
Gather information for and complete pre-certification for managed care clients when required.
Facilitate the admission process in collaboration with the clinical team.
Make appropriate referrals to community providers and assist with placement as needed.
Complete assessment, admission, and required paperwork in a timely manner, including Releases of Information (ROI).
Manage admission pre-certification with funding sources, when applicable.
Collaborate with other clinical team members and departments to support client care.
Provide coverage for other clinical staff as needed.
Maintain accurate clinical records with appropriate documentation in accordance with program policy.
Conduct brief individual therapy sessions to engage clients in treatment.
Provide case management services and linkage to community resources.
Develop initial treatment plans for new clients.
Lead group therapy sessions as assigned.
Complete all required training as mandated by the company and licensing/accreditation bodies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, or counseling.
Licensure required: LCSW, LPC, or LSATP. Candidates under board-approved clinical supervision toward licensure will also be considered.
