The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Perform psychosocial assessments, conduct short-term psychotherapy, refer those in need of long-term, ongoing counseling to appropriate therapists/resources, provide crisis intervention counseling, facilitate support groups, develop programs to meet psychosocial needs of oncology patients and participate in multidisciplinary psychosocial rounds. The Oncology Counselor uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific counseling needs and provides age specific care to the pre-school, school age, adolescent, adult and elderly patient.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) eligible for LCSW and currently registered to practice as a professional social worker in the state of New Jersey.

Preferred:
  • Minimum of four years of Oncology Social Work experience preferred.
