Looking for a social worker to cover the following areas.
Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris, San Jacinto, Winchester and surrounding areas.
Qualifications:
(1) A Master's Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school, as defined in Section 94310 of the Education Code, in social work or social welfare, marriage, family, and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology.
(2) In addition to the degree specifications in Subsection (1) above, all of the following coursework and field practice or experience shall be required of all new hires effective January 1, 1993:
A. At least three semester units or 100 days of field practice or experience in a public or private social service agency setting at the Master's Degree level.
B. At least nine semester units of coursework related to children and families, or 18 months experience in working with children and families.
C. At least three semester units in working with minority populations; six months of experience in working with minority populations; or six months in-service training in working with minority populations within the first year of employment as a condition of employment.
D. At least three semester units in child welfare or two years’ experience in a public or private child welfare social services setting.
(3) Social Work Personnel who do not meet the Master’s Degree or higher requirements specified in the sections above may apply for an exception provided he/she completes the coursework and field practice or experience requirements specified in sections above.
Requirements:
Documentation of the required education and experience requirements shall be maintain in the personnel file.
Employee must undergo a pre-employment physical examination. This examination will be given at the employee expense by a license physician and will include a TB test as requires by Community Care Licensing.
Employee must submit to a live san fingerprints process. Each employee must receive clearance from Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Child Abuse Index per Community Care Licensing.
Employee must sign a statement acknowledging the child and elder abuse and neglect reporting.
Participate in employee orientations and ongoing training.
Have a current California Driver License and automobile insurance.
Employee must have the ability to use office machines, word processors, computers, etc. to prepare the necessary documentation, reports, etc. regarding the clients being served by There is Hope FFA Inc., responsibilities in Penal Code Section 11164 et seq.
Employee shall complete a minimum of one-hour training in the area of child and elder abuse recognition, identification, assessing and reporting.
Attainment of at least 21 years of age.
Responsibilities and Obligations:
Social Worker Personnel shall be responsible of the following:
1. Have the education and experience, and the core competencies necessary to competently participate in the assessment and evaluation of an applicant or Resource Family;
2. Be trained to perform assigned tasks;
3. Participate in the assessment and evaluation of an applicant or Resource Family meet core competency requirements, including having necessary knowledge and skills;
a. [“Knowledge” includes an understanding of the following:
i. An overview of the child protective and probation systems
ii. The Resource Family Approval assessment and approval process
iii. The contents of the interim licensing standards.
iv. The personal rights of children in foster care and how to ensure those rights are afforded to children
v. Child and family confidentiality principles
vi. Techniques for interviewing children, nonminor dependents, and adults
vii. Developmental stages of childhood and effects of trauma on development, as well as the impact of poverty on the lives of families and children
viii. The priorities of safety, permanency, and well-being for children in foster care
ix. The impact of trauma, grief, and loss on a child involved in the child welfare system and its impact on placement and permanency goals
x. The impact of mental health and substance abuse on children and families
xi. Permanency timelines and the role caregivers playing supporting timely permanency
xii. That teaming or collaboration assists in developing solutions that are individualized to the family and their culture, community, and tribes.
xiii. The practice of cultural humility and how this approach improves family engagement, shows respect for families, and ensures assessments incorporate a family’s unique culture
xiv. Ongoing training and services prepare caregivers to meet the needs of children and nonminor dependents and assists families with forming lifelong relationships
xv. Resource Family Approval prepares families to better meet the needs of vulnerable children in the foster care system and assists with a seamless transition to permanency
xvi. The impact of personal biases when working with children and families
b. “Skills” includes the ability to do the following:
i. Explain the Resource Family Approval requirements to applicants and Resources Families
ii. Correctly apply the Written Directives and applicable laws
iii. Conduct a Home Environment Assessment, psychosocial assessment, and prepare a Written Report
iv. Incorporate an assessment of an applicant’s mental health and substance abuse into the risk assessment
v. Interview children, nonminor dependents, and adults using a variety of interviewing techniques
vi. Conduct visits for assessment purposes in a way that engages Resource Families to build rapport and establish trust
vii. Assess a variety of information including, but not limited to, historical, social, and economic factors pertaining to individuals
viii. Summarize, evaluate, and make a final determination of an applicant in the Written Report
ix. Investigate complaints, and prepare, conduct, and report findings of complaint investigations
x. Utilize teaming or collaborative strategies to engage Resource Families
xi. Ability to assess and identify children who have been abused, neglected, or maltreated
xii. Recognize how personal beliefs, values, norms, and world views can affect the dynamics of case planning and outcomes
xiii. Present self in a manner that is respectful, culturally humble, professional and adapts well to meet both community and cultural needs of children and families
xiv. Collaborate with families to achieve mutual goals, build upon family strengths and ensure quality comprehensive Written Reports are developed.
Skills:
In order to perform well as a social worker, one must be able to handle pressure, be objective and make sure to keep sensitive information confidential. Additionally, a social worker needs to be organized, goal-oriented, and good at reporting, persistent, proactive, a good listener communicator. Social workers should be also emotionally mature, and they must be able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain good working relationship with clients and coworkers.
