Position Summary
The Admissions Screener performs clinical screening and triage to individuals making initial contact with Horizon to maintain compliance with Same Day Access requirements from the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field (including social work, counseling, behavioral science, psychology, or other DMAS-approved human services and related fields degree).
- Preferred 1 year with working with MH or SUD populations
- Qualified Mental Health Professional
Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of services, systems, and programs available in the community including primary health care, support services, eligibility criteria and intake processes, generic community resources, and mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse treatment programs; Knowledge and understanding of the nature of serious mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse depending on the population served, including clinical and developmental issues. Knowledge of treatment modalities and techniques, such as behavior management, independent living skills training, family education, discharge planning, and service coordination. Knowledge of clinical supervision requirements and techniques. Knowledge of principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse.
Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required. Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients at other locations. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
