- DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- A Registered Professional healthcare provider who oversees the functioning of a multi disciplinary team to provide patient care from diagnosis through all phases of treatment at the BMC Care Navigation Department. Possesses expertise in the clinical knowledge, community resources and of nursing care of an inpatient and outpatient basis particularly for those diagnosed with cancer. Participates in the development of services to meet the needs of this population. Evaluates services provided and participates in the design and development of systems which are compatible with organizational goals, strategic plans, and priorities. Services included: assessment, planning, facilitating, and advocating for patient care. Provides patient and family education related to disease processes and community resources. Community education and awareness programs, grant funding oversight, support groups, lectures, and physician practice outreach. Recruits, supervises, educates, and manages staff and budget. Researches and applies for grant funding and maintains contractual guidelines of funding. Oversees volunteer group known as the Berkshire Breast Health Team. Works with the community partners to promote services to patients and families.
- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
- Experience:
- 5 years Medical/Surgical/Oncology experience.
- Education and Training:
- B.S. Required, MS preferred
- License, Certification & Registration:
- RN License - Licensed as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
- CPR.
- ONCC - Oncology Nurse Certification within 24 months of hire.

- Ability to effect change, performs critical analysis, plans, organizes and implements services effectively.
- Promotes client and family autonomy.
- Knowledgeable of funding resources, services, clinical standards, and outcomes.
- Works closely with community partners including Susan G, Komen Foundation, American Cancer Society, Department of Public Health.
