Summary of the Job:
Provide mental health counseling based on an individualized treatment plan with the goal of supporting homeless residents emotionally and facilitating their identification of both goals and objectives. Provides core conditions conducive to resident’s positive change and assess resident’s optimal mental health in order to reduce recidivism.

Essential Functions:
- Provide individual, couples, group, and crisis counseling relative to personal and social problems.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience.
- Form and maintain effective counseling relationships to monitor resident movement in the therapeutic process and terminate relationships when clinically appropriate.
- Work with other community service agencies and providers to facilitate case coordination and information sharing.
- Maintain accurate and up to date client records.
- Refer residents to appropriate community resources or specialists as needed.
- Provide reports as directed.
- Attend weekly clinical meeting and consult with team concerning resident needs and progress.
- Maintain the highest level of professional ethics and appropriate boundaries with residents.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Required Education/Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work and eligible in the state of Texas for permanent professional licensure.
- Understanding of homelessness and influencing factors.
- Previous experience in non-profit setting or associated agency/clinic.

- Excellent problem solving and reflective listening skills.
- Exhibition of aspirational professional ethical standards.
- Good general computer skills.
- Ability to stay focused in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to cope with and recognize symptoms of stress and crisis in self and others.
- Ability to hear and incorporate clinical supervision.
- Ability to ascend and descend multiple stairs and/or ramps daily, multiple times a day using feet and legs; hands and arms may be used for balance (i.e. using a handrail)
