POSITION: Student Affairs Specialist – Admissions Counselor

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position is primarily responsible for responding to prospective student inquiries and guiding applicants through the admission process.

Major Duties

COMMUNICATION, COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE

  • Answers community inquiries via email and phone.
  • Counsels prospective students and applicants through the application process.
  • Assists with new student onboarding and first-year experience initiatives.
  • Assists prospective students in selecting an optimal program of study.
  • Sends mass communications to applicants in accordance with the applicant communication plan.
  • Interprets college transcripts and makes acceptance decisions.
  • Organizes and coordinates the application process for select programs of study.

TOURS/RECRUITING

  • Conducts campus tours and information sessions for prospective students.
  • Makes recruitment visits to high schools, career fairs, etc. as needed.

DEPARTMENT SUPPORT

  • Serves on various department or College committees or work groups.
  • Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field of the position and sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position OR Associate’s Degree with two years (external to Chatt Tech) / one year (internal to Chatt Tech) of paid work experience in Student Affairs, or experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

SALARY/BENEFITS: $45,301.59 annually. Benefits include paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program. Please be aware that Chattahoochee Tech employees will be paid by direct deposit, unless exempted by the State Accounting Office based on “hardship” evidence provided by the employee.

TELEWORK: Position is authorized to telework up to 40% of the time.
