JOB SUMMARY:

The Peer Support Specialist assists members in the development of strength-based recovery goals and provides information to members focusing on personal wellness and recovery. The Peer Specialist will work with and collaborate with internal/external staff, community providers and stakeholders to provide appropriate referrals for service to members. The Peer Specialist will provide a positive and supportive attitude to promote a safe and supportive space where all members can flourish.

Job Description for Peer Specialist

· Provide direct peer support to members as requested.

· Assist in facilitation of groups.

· Provide resources to help individuals maintain recovery in the community and prevent re-hospitalization.

· Provide outreach to stakeholders and partners within the community.

· Maintain records, notes and reports as required by SEFBHN and the Mental Health America of the Palm Beaches.

· Participate in Mental Health America’s Peer Career Training and other required trainings as needed.

· Participate in community events and initiatives, as requested by supervisor.

· Report directly to Lead Case Manager.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum:

o Knowledge of Peer Recovery support

o Valid Florida driver’s license

o Ability to clear a level 2 background

o Must have reliable Transportation

· Preferred:

o Current Florida Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential in good standing

o 6 months of experience working in a peer support role

o Knowledge and experience with Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP)

o Bi-lingual (Spanish) (Creole) preferred

· Must possess a positive attitude and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

· Must be flexible, Hours and schedule may vary.

· Must possess ability to work independently

· Must possess excellent, demonstrable written and verbal communication skills

· Must be proficient in computer skills with a working knowledge in all Microsoft programs and zoom.

SALARY RANGE:

Commensurate with experience.

Continued employment is dependent on availability of funding resources.
